LUZ ONG It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Luz Santiaguel Ong on Saturday, August 14, 2010 at Seven Oaks General Hospital. She was born in Dasmarinas, Cavite, Philippines on March 4, 1946, the fourth of nine children and the eldest daughter. She is predeceased by parents, Urbano and Marcela, and her brothers, Melchor and Augusto. She is survived by her loving and supportive husband of 36 years, Jaime Ong, her children (and their spouses): Lorelyn (Edwin Zurbano), Joel (Cathy), Jaime Jr. (Aileen), her grandchildren: Leiyah, Andre, Raenan, Christian, and Rhys, her brothers and sisters: Tiquio (Noring), sisters-in-law Janing and Puring, Dee (Onnie), Dora (Efren Ordonez), Unthee (Totie Sico), Nica (Willie Urrutia), and Ading (Dante Genido), and many nieces and nephews in British Columbia, Alberta, California, and Winnipeg, and in-laws, relatives and friends from Philippines and Canada. Throughout her life, she provided guidance and advice and wished only the best for her family and friends. Even during her illness, she was still thinking of what was best for those she cared about instead of herself. She will be greatly missed and forever remembered for all the things she did for us. The family would like to extend a special thank you for the care and compassion shown by Dr. Finlayson, Dr. Dalling, nurses and staff of Unit 6 and 7, 5th floor, at Seven Oaks General Hospital and staff at Health Sciences Centre - Women's Hospital. We would also like to thank all who offered prayers during her illness, especially Msgr. Enrique Samson. Viewing (lamay) will be held on Thursday and Friday, August 19 and 20, 2010 between the hours of 6:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, MB. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated with Msgr. Enrique Samson on Saturday, August 21, at 8:30 a.m., St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church, 748 Keewatin Avenue. Interment will follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. Chapel Lawn 885-9715
