Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDENIS JOSEPH MARCEL FRANCOIS RAFFARD Denis Joseph Marcel François Raffard was born on December 29, 1940 and passed away suddenly on the morning of August 21, 2010. He was the beloved husband of Lorena (née Thornton) for 27 years. Denis was the eldest of Marcel and Yvonne Raffard's seven children. He is survived by his four children, Paul, Stéphanie, Justin, Colleen, and granddaughter Chelsey. He was predeceased by his father Marcel and his daughter Rachel. Born in St. Hubert, SK, Denis moved to Argyle with his parents in 1943 and then, finally, to Otterburne in 1948. Having farmed a grain and dairy operation for the vast majority of his life, Denis lived a life where hard work, perseverance, and strong family values are paramount. Even in the difficult last years of his time here, his persistent spirit and limitless kindness had a profound impact on all those fortunate to have known him. He will be sorely missed by his mother, Yvonne, and siblings Dolorès (Gilbert) Carrière, Lorraine (Robert) Cauthers, Evelyne (Pierre) Beaudoin, Marc (Eleanor) Raffard, Jeanine (Adrian) Bernard, and Michel (Mary-Lou) Raffard. We wish to extend our fondest thanks to his family, to Léo Courcelles, and Myles Kennedy for all their help and services since his accident. Thanks to St. Pierre Home Care staff, to Sheryl Kennedy for helping with his care for the past seven years, and to Jules Bernardin who attended in his hour of need. Thanks to M.P.I. for all the supplies and support they have provided. Funeral mass, with Father Antoine Vo Van Hoa officiating, will be held at 11:00 a.m. this Saturday, August 28 at St. Viateur Church in Otterburne. A viewing will precede funeral services at 10:30 a.m., and following interment a luncheon will be provided at the Otterburne Curling Club across the street from the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Society for Manitobans with Disabilities Foundation or to the Manitoba Farmers with Disabilities in honour of Denis. Dad was the kind of father that gave us a good blend of freedom and responsibility. He was a great example of character and temperance that lives on through his children and those who were close to him. His family was everything to him and though I wasn't always the most attentive or productive kid around, he loved me all the same and was proud of all his children. I am blessed to have had such a father, and feel it is my duty to honour him in my nature and exploits. As good a man as one could define ❤️ - Posted by: Paul Raffarf (Son) on: Jul 29, 2023

I love you daddy, miss you so much, I will always remember everything you taught me in life and everything you did for me, you were the best dad a son could ask for, I just wish I could have done more in your time of need. I hope you, Rachel and our Lord Jesus Christ can help give me the strength to be strong and to live on with your memory. Love you now and always your son Justin - Posted by: Justin Raffard (Family) on: Aug 26, 2010
