TERESA (TERRIE) THORSTEINSON (nee PIETKIEWICZ) 1949 - 2010 It is with very deep sadness that we announce the passing of our Mum, Nana, Partner, Sister, Daughter, and Friend Terrie Thorsteinson on Friday, August 27, 2010. Terrie is survived by her partner Jim Dixon (sons Mark and Keith), her children Heidi, Holly, and Kristjan (Carrie), her granddaughter Allissa, her mother Teresa Kanowicz, her sister Elizabeth (Danny) and their children Patrick and Alex. She is also survived by her cousins, who were more like siblings, Helen Cerasani (Dominic) and Henry Pietkiewicz (Betty) and their children. Terrie was predeceased by her father, Peter Pietkiewicz, and her former husband / friend Thomas Thorsteinson. Terrie was a very proud mother of her three children; Heidi, Holly, and Kristjan. Her only grandchild, Allissa, was the apple of her eye. Terrie and her partner Jim Dixon (Dixie) were together happily for 11 of the best years of her life. Terrie went back to school to become a nurse, while raising her three children, and proudly graduated in 1986 from Grace General Hospital. Terrie enjoyed a 24 year career in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at HSC and retired in 2004. Terrie had such a love for nursing that in retirement she attained a licence to practice in Arizona and Texas, and spent winters working, instead of living a leisurely snowbird life. Terrie had a passion for traveling, having made recent trips to Australia, New Zealand, Thailand, Singapore, Japan, Malaysia and a lot of North America. Despite her wandering spirit Terrie always looked forward to home and didn't like to be gone for too long. She loved nothing more than being with family and friends, and truly was in her element being the ultimate hostess. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Riverview Health Centre Foundation. A celebration of Terrie's life will be held on Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at the Caboto Centre, 1055 Wilkes Ave, Winnipeg, MB. The Coutu family in care of arrangements: E.J. COUTU CO.
