MAY JEAN PYBUS (nee HUTCHEON) With heavy hearts we bid farewell to our beloved wife, mother, nanny, sister, and aunt as she embarks on her next journey. On Sunday, September 5, 2010, May died at the Deer Lodge Centre, at the age of 87 years. Leaving to celebrate May's life and accomplishments are her loving family, husband John; daughter Jennifer (Craig); son Christopher (Nora); cherished grandchildren Laura, Tavis, Colin, Mathew; sisters Agnes, Margaret, Mary; sisters-in-law Evelyn and Pat; numerous nieces; nephews and their children; cousins in England and dear friends, especially Ann. Mom was born in Thunder Bay, relocating as a child to Winnipeg where she grew up. As a very young woman she ventured to Washington, D.C. to work as a secretary during the Second World War with the British Information Services, an agency of the British Government dealing with the release of top secret information. It was in Washington during the celebration of VE day that she met John. They married two years later in Winnipeg and recently celebrated their 63rd anniversary. Mom was active in St. Andrew's Anglican, Woodhaven for many years as a choir member, an A.C.W. member and a crafter for the annual bazaar. She was a Brown Owl who opened her home and her support to any Brownie who wished to earn a badge. Her gifted hands created many beautiful items - knitted baby sweaters, new-born hats and receiving blankets that she gave away lovingly; crafts for children; wedding gowns and dresses. She created some lovely needlepoint; one of which adorns a chair in the chapel of St. Paul's High School. She also enjoyed painting pictures; was an avid reader; enjoyed music and crosswords! Mom was a caring, supportive wife and mother whose family was everything to her and always strived for the best. In compliance with Mom's wishes there will be no formal Funeral Service. An open house in Celebration of May's Life will be held for family and friends on Saturday, September 11th from 1:00 - 5:00 p.m. at 27 Flamingo Ave. We would like to thank so very much the wonderful staff at Deer Lodge Centre 2E for their compassionate care of Mom and thoughtfulness to us. We are so appreciative. In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated in Mom's memory to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3e 0V9 or World Vision Canada, 1 World Drive, Mississauga, ON, L5T 2Y4. Mom often reminded us to make the best of each day because You will never have this minute or this hour again .
