RITA LAVALLEE (nee SMITH) Peacefully, on October 2nd, 2010, Rita passed away with family by her side at St. Boniface Hospital. Leaving to cherish her memory is her loving daughter Norma Cancade and friend Rob, a sister Mona Dupuis, a chosen brother Gilles Ouellette, his wife Jan, nephews Nicolas and Jamie Ouellette, relatives and friends especially Nora and Madeleine She was predeceased by her parents Henri and Attala Smith, a sister Valita Lejeune, brothers-in-law Roger Lejeune and Joe Dupuis. Rita worked at St. Boniface General Hospital for many years. She loved work and enjoyed working outdoors until her health no longer allowed her to. She had a loving kindness for animals, especially her little dog Tootsie that she had for many years. She was a generous person, had a positive attitude in life, an incredible creative talent and her imagination could mostly fix anything. Rita had a lot of hard times but she always picked herself up and carried on. She accepted difficulties with grace and had a great amount of inner strength and courage. She enjoyed simple pleasures, her greatest joy was to spend time with her caring and devoted daughter. She loved life to the fullest, enjoyed being with family and friends, loved to laugh, listen to music, the zest for life always keeping busy . In her days she loved dancing, bowling and golfing. Although we are left to miss her we are enriched by all the beautiful memories of her sense of humor and examples of her kindness. I love you Mom and I thank you for the time that you gave me to share your love, guidance and strength. You were always there with unfailing kindness in my time of need. A celebration of Rita's life will take place on Thursday, October 7, 2010 at Desjardins Funeral Chapel, 357 DesMeurons Street at 2:00 p.m., with burial at the St. Boniface Cemetery and reception to follow. Thanks to Dr. Hasdan and staff on EU at St. Boniface Hospital. You will forever be loved, missed and always remain in our hearts. MOM You can only have one mother, Loving, kind and true No other friend in all the world Will be so true to you For all her love and kindness She asked nothing in return If all the world deserted us Our Mother we could turn For those of you who Have a Mother Treasure her with care For you will never know her value Til you see that she is not there To hear her voice to see her smile To sit and talk with her awhile To be together in the same old way Would be my dearest wish today.
