Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryELLA BEER (nee GIESBRECHT) September 15, 1912 - November 23, 2010 It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of our loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother on Tuesday, November 23, 2010 at Bethania Personal Care Home at the age of 98. Ella is survived by her daughter Evelyn Mearon (Paul), Winnipeg, son, Raymond Baer (Jill), St. Andrews and daughter, Eileen Wotherspoon (Paul), Calgary. Mom's memory will live on through her grandchildren, Karen Mearon, John Mearon, Kathie Cherewyk (Chris), Briget Baer (Gary Samson) and Andrea Baer (Jason Neufeld), Lindsay Wotherspoon (Guillaume Frelot) and Kate Wotherspoon; and her great-grandchildren, Matthew Baer and Kenny Woychesen. Ella was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Edward in 2002, seven brothers, five sisters and her granddaughter Leanne Ponzilius (Baer). Ella was born in Lanigan, Saskatchewan on September 15, 1912. Her Mom and Dad moved their family back to Manitoba when Ella was seven. Ella moved to Winnipeg in her early 20s and worked as a housekeeper. When Dad returned from serving in the Second World War they moved their family to Fort Garry where they resided until his death in 2002. When her children were in high school Ella got a job working at the Wildwood Club and then spent many years working at the University of Manitoba UMSU cafeteria. Mom loved the students and was not afraid to give them just a little bit extra on their plate. We will always be grateful for her love and care. Mom will always be remembered as a wonderful cook and a Sunday dinner would not be complete without her famous cinnamon buns. We would like to thank all those who have untiringly shown their kindness to our mother while residing at Bethania. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bethania Personal Care Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 27 at Green Acres Funeral Home. Interment to follow in Green Acres Cemetery.
