MARIE THAIS POIRIER (nee D'AUTEUIL) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Marie Thais Poirier at the age of 97 years, beloved wife of Joseph Poirier at home in St. Boniface. Thais was born in Isle des Chenes on August 29th, 1913, one of 12 children. She is survived by her husband of 72 years, her daughters, Dolores, Lorraine (Ben), Jocelyne, Michele (Wayne), grandson Brian and great-grand-children Cody and Jade, also brother Isidore and sister Yvette. She also had six godchildren. She was predeceased by her parents Alfred and Olive D'Auteuil, brothers Alfred, Joel, Athanase, Remi, Fereol, Irene and sisters Rose, Aldea and Mathilde. Mom loved everything beautiful, nature, gardening especially in her flower beds. She enjoyed all crafts, sewing, knitting and ceramics. She spent numerous pleasurable hours painting and her works are enjoyed by many. She and Joseph travelled extensively. She enjoyed cooking special meals for the family on especially on Sundays. She also took a nursing course and spent 10 years caring mostly for the aged, at the hospital and in private homes. She was a dedicated mother to her daughters on the family farm near Lorette. She loved enter-taining her many brothers and sisters on both sides of the family and their children. Maman était artistique et passait beaucoup de temps à créer de belles choses. La peinture était sa spécialitée. Elle adorait la lecture et aimait aussi chanter tout en faisant ses travaux quotidiens. She will be greatly missed by her husband and all her daughters, family and friends. Funeral will be held on Thursday, December 16, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Notre Dame de Lorette Catholic Church in Lorette Manitoba. A public viewing will take place half an hour prior to the service. Interment to follow in Notre Dame de Lorette Catholic Cemetery.
