DONALD ARTHUR (DON) THOMAS December 30, 1911 - December 27, 2010 Don died peacefully, in his sleep, in his 99th year at the Madonna, LTC, Orleans, Ontario. Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, he was the first and only child of Lycetta (Merriam) Thomas of Winnipeg and Aubrey Howell Thomas of Swansea, Wales. Don honourably served in the Royal Canadian Air Force during the Second World War. Don worked with Girard-McLean (L.D. Pilon) Plumbing and Heating as well as at the Noranda Mine Company in Rouyn-Noranda, Quebec. He also worked on the DEW line in Frobisher Bay on Baffin Island. Don was passionate about live theatre and participated in community theatre groups in Rouyn-Noranda, Quebec and in Orleans, Ontario. He was a life member of the Canadian Corps Association Branch 7 Noranda, Quebec. At one point he directed a troop from Rouyn-Noranda that won a spot in the Dominion Drama Festival. Predeceased by his beloved wife of 67 years, Dora (Tittlemier), Don is survived by his children Bonnie (Eric) Foster of Sugarloaf, Florida and Donald of Ottawa, Ontario, six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. The family wishes to thank the Doctors and staff at Madonna LTC for the compassionate care given to our dad while he lived there. Don will be interred, along with his wife Dora in the National Military Cemetery in Ottawa, Canada at a date yet to be determined.
