ELIZABETH MACDONALD PRATT February 2, 1920 - December 22, 2010 Peacefully on December 22, 2010 at Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria, BC, after a long and very happy life. A loving wife to her husband Ken who predeceased her in 1999. She was the only daughter of the late Alex and Bess Brown and sister to the late Angus Brown (Lou) of Brandon. She is survived by her brother Don (Mel) of St. Albert, AB, and by her five sons to whom she was a loyal and proud mum: Alex (Barbara) of Whitehorse, YT; David (Ratana) of Chiang Rai, Thailand; Don (Debbie) of Swan River, MB; Ian (Paulette) of Winnipeg, MB; and Eric (Mireille) of Swan Hills, AB; grandchildren Andrew (Karla), and Michael (Onprapa); and great-grandchildren Duncan and Isabelle. She is also survived by her cousin Sheila Coull; step-grandchildren Giovanni (Kristi), Tavia (Aaron), Cory, Umpan, and Pornphan; step-great-grandchildren Jacob, Jayda, Marley, and William; and many nieces and nephews. Mum was born in Winnipeg and moved to Brandon in 1925. She was educated in Brandon schools, including St. Michael's Academy, and at St. Mary's Academy in Winnipeg. She and Ken were married on July 4, 1941, after he received his pilot's wings in the R.C.A.F., prompting the family joke that Dad won his wings only to have them clipped two days later. Mum was a warm and loving friend to many, dating back to her early school days. She and Ken retired to Victoria in 1978 and enjoyed hiking, dancing, gardening, and travelling. Mum's strong belief was that she would be reunited with Ken and looked on her death as the start of another great adventure. Cremation has taken place, and there will be a celebration of her life on Tuesday, January 18, 2011, 2:00 p.m., at the chapel at First Memorial Funeral Services, 1155 Fort Street, Victoria. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to UNICEF. The family would like to thank the many friends in Mum's later life, especially special friends Allan and Margaret Lewis, for their kindness and support. To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to weep, and a time to laugh; A time to mourn, and a time to dance. First Memorial Funeral Services, Victoria, BC, is in care of arrangements.
