STEPHANIE CAROL PURVIS (JONES) January 30, 1939 - January 22, 2011 Peacefully our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt sadly passed away surrounded by her family at Selkirk General Hospital. Mom was predeceased by her parents, Sarah Byers and Norman Jones, her husband, Roy and son Kevin. She is survived by her sons and their families: David and Karen (Ben and Shelby); Fletcher and Trena (Ethan and Camryn); Pamela (Jack and Gage). She is also survived by her brother Wayne (Betty) Jones; and sister Elaine Byers, and family. After her retirement from the Lord Selkirk Regional Secondary School in 1994, Mom kept busy traveling, marking English exams, taking Spanish and computer lessons, learning how to use plain English , doing crossword puzzles, going to exercise classes, and spending time with friends and extended family. She also enjoyed family get togethers especially holidays, birthdays, and her coffee dates with the Byers' Clan. She always found time to watch her grandchildren play sports, or perform at dance recitals or concerts. Mom was very proud of her many academic achievements, leadership roles, and teaching career. However, mostly she bragged about the admiration she felt for her sons and daughters-in-law. She was very happy that we are all so close and supportive of each other. Mom's wishes were to have a memorial service in the spring and this will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Canadian Cancer Society. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements. www.gilbartfuneralhome.com
