WINIFRED MABEL THORESBY 1925 - 2011 With a deep sense of loss I am saddened to announce the passing of my Mom on January 26, 2011, at the age of 85. She passed away peacefully in the home she loved. Mom was predeceased by her devoted husband of 50 years Frank in 2009. She was also predeceased by her dear sister Ruby, brother-in-law Bill, her parents and brother Gerald. She was born in the family home on Windsor Avenue in Winnipeg, on May 9, 1925 to Harold and Florence Cadle. Mom grew up in Elmwood and attended George V, and Lord Selkirk Schools. She worked at Eaton's downtown until she married Dad. She was a quiet person, marrying the man of her dreams and partner in life, May 30, 1959. They moved to their house in Fort Rouge, where she resided the rest of her days. She was a devoted homemaker, loving every minute of caring for my Dad and myself. Mom was an active bowler in the Riverview Ladies League, an avid gardener, enjoyed reading, crocheting, and collecting dolls. She loved spending weekends at the farm' in Inwood tending the gardens alongside dad. She enjoyed attending country fairs, cruising the back roads, or just relaxing. She and Dad travelled extensively across Canada and the US, including trips to the British Isles to explore the places their families originated from. Mom will be deeply missed by myself Michael, her only child, my wife Sandy (Good), her grandchildren she was so proud of Owen Michael, Chad Douglas, Matt Alexander, Robyn Cadle, and Nicole Quentin. Mom was also survived by her sister Hazel Sinclair, and brother-in-law Douglas Halliday. Mom was a devoted aunt and will be truly missed by her nieces Dianne and Wendy, and by her nephews Gerald, Rick, Ross and David, along with their families. Pallbearers will be John Betton, Ross Sinclair, Myself and her Grandsons Owen, Chad and Matt. Mom's funeral service will be held Thursday, February 3, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave, Winnipeg.
