HERMINE MARIA POKORNY Peacefully, on February 16, 2011 at the Seven Oaks Hospital, Maria passed away at the age of 91. She was predeceased by her husband Fred on April 19, 2007. Her memory will be forever cherished by her sons Fred of Denver, CO; Roland (Joan) of Winnipeg; grandchildren Kelly and Scott. Mom came to Canada with her family in July, 1954 settling in Winnipeg and making this her home for both her and her husband and children. Family was the most important thing in Mom's life. She worked as a housekeeper for many years for a Doctor and a Dentist, also in a spice factory. Mom's favorite time of year was summer as she loved flowers and her favorite movie was the Sound of Music. Printed on Mom's poster where she resided for many years she has listed as her Greatest Achievement , she raised two Great Boys . At Mom's request cremation has taken place and a Memorial service will be held on Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at 10:00 am at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue. The family wish to extend a heartfelt Thank-you to the Maples Personal Home for years of good care they provided to Maria as well as the Seven Oaks Hospital for their care and compassion shown to Maria and her family.
