MARGARET RACHUK Peacefully on Monday, February 28, 2011, Margaret Rachuk passed away at the Beausejour Health Centre at the age of 89 years. Margaret was predeceased by her beloved husband Joe, her parents Catherine and James Dennett, her in-laws Martha and Fred Rachuk, brothers-in-law Paul Smorhay, Steve, Stanley, Tony and Paul Rachuk, sisters-in-law Anne Smorhay, Mary, Doris, Eleanor and Jean Rachuk. She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted daughter Julie, brother-in-law Mike Rachuk, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Margaret was born on February 19, 1922 and grew up in Grand Marais, MB. She married Joe on May 21, 1951 and over the next 31 years, until Joe's death in 1982, the two of them worked as a team on the family farm in Stead, MB. Margaret was a loving, caring person who was instrumental in the formation of the Stead Community Centre and for many years volunteered whenever she could. She also had a special place in her heart for little animals whom she formed a bond with immediately. The family would like to thank Dr. Zeiler, the hospital staff and especially the nurses and the health care aides for the kind, compassionate care they provided to Margaret during her hospitalization. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, March 4 at 11:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Roman Catholic Church, Stead, MB with Rev. Fr. James Gray presiding. Interment will follow in the Parish Cemetery. Prayers will be said Thursday, March 3 at 7:00 p.m. at Sobering Funeral Chapel, 1035 Park Avenue E., Beausejour. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society or a charity of your choice.
