Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDAVID CARLETON STOVEL April 1, 1983 - March 31, 2011 With heavy hearts the family of David Carleton Stovel announces the loss of a son and brother on March 31, 2011 following a motorcycle accident in Vancouver. Just one day shy of his 28th birthday, David's life was far too short but full of friends and experiences made in the five cities he lived including Hamilton, Oakville, Toronto, Winnipeg, and most recently Vancouver. For more than two decades, summers were spent at the family cottage at Lake of the Woods, making it an especially formative place for David. He attended the University of Manitoba and more recently the Vancouver Film School where he started building on his dream of becoming a game developer. Those whose lives were blessed by knowing David remember him for his happy and loving disposition. He made friends wherever he went and his powerful self-determination lead David on a path that was rich and truly his own. David is survived by parents Richard and Millie Stovel of Toronto; sisters Lindsay (Jon Metcalfe) of Winnipeg and Trisha of Vancouver. Also mourning his loss are aunts and uncles including Toni Stovel (Clasina van Bemmel) of Vancouver; Ken Stovel of Winnipeg; Laurie Stovel (Randy Moffat) of Vancouver; Garry Heiman (Alice) of Coquitlam; Trudie Heiman of Japan; Carolyn Heiman (Wayne Jensen) of Victoria; Darlene Heiman of Winnipeg and Christine Hansen (Greg) of Kenora; numerous cousins; and his dog Jackson. David's smiling face and positive attitude will be missed. A memorial service will be held on April 8 in Vancouver. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the BC SPCA or a charity of your choice. For those who wish to share condolences please go to Facebook and search: In Loving Memory of David Stovel.
