DR. M. ELEANOR PUTTEE, M.D. On May 28, 2011, Eleanor Puttee passed away peacefully at the Tuxedo Villa nursing home at the age of 75 years. Eleanor was born in Winnipeg on September 29, 1935, and attended Grosvenor, Robert H. Smith and Kelvin schools before graduating from the University of Manitoba with a degree in Medicine. Following her internment at St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg, she did post-graduate studies in Edinburgh, Scotland and at John Hopkins Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts. Upon her return to Winnipeg, Eleanor joined the Mall Medical Group where she practiced until suffering a stroke in 1989, and later was a medical consultant at the Great-West Life Assurance Co. in Winnipeg. During the past six years, she resided at Tuxedo Villa where she was always most appreciative of the warmth and compassionate care extended to her by her caregivers there. Eleanor is survived by her daughters Diana Puttee in Winnipeg and Lorna Puttee-Vouriot in Calgary, grandsons Joseph and Aaron, Calgary, and granddaughter Jessica and her children Kiara and Kaci, Winnipeg; by her brother Robert (Wilma) Puttee in St. Catharines, Ont., nephew Donald Puttee, Mont Tremblant, P.Q. and niece Lara (Tom) Cristoff, Toronto. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 18, 2011 at 2:00 p.m., at Thomson Funeral Home, 669 Broadway, Winnipeg. Flowers are gratefully declined but should friends so desire, donations in Eleanor's memory to the Winnipeg Humane Society, or to a charity of one's choice would be most appreciated.
