Roy is survived by Louise, his loving wife of 63 years, his son Tim and daughter Tannis (Ron), granddaughter Nicole and sister-in-law Kath. Predeceased by his parents Percy and Rose, his brother Percy and daughter-in-law Doreen. He'll also be missed by his extended family, all the Stogans, Masons and Bachs. At the age of 17 Roy enlisted in the army and served in North Western Europe with the South Saskatchewan regiment during the Second World War. He was awarded the following medals: 1939 - 1945 Star, France and Germany Star, Defense Medal, Canadian Volunteer Service Medal with clasp, War Medal 1939 - 1945. Also the special Medal of Remembrance from Holland. In 1959 he moved to Thompson beginning his career with Inco, retiring in 1985 as supervisor of the warehouse. He was past master, and charter member of Mystery Lodge 174 (Thompson), charter member of Thompson Shrine Club, and member of Royal Canadian Legion Branch 244 (Thompson). Roy enjoyed his time in the north fishing, curling, golfing and building his and his son's cabin at Setting Lake. He also spent many winter hours carving soapstone which he gave away to family and friends. On retirement Roy and Louise spent their winters in Meza, Arizona. While south they enjoyed many golf games, trips to Las Vegas and Los Angeles with friends. In 2003, they sold their trailer and lived full-time in Winnipeg. Dad enjoyed spending time with family, taking in his granddaughter's activities and helping out whenever he was needed. He continued his annual trips north for the best pickerel fishing in Manitoba.
