MARY DORIS (MD) RAMORE (LEROY) Mary Doris (MD) Ramore (LeRoy), passed away peacefully at West Park Manor with family at her side on July 8, 2011 in her 88th year. She was predeceased by William David Ramore, her loving husband of 60 years. MD is lovingly remembered by her five children and eleven grandchildren; Liz and Norm Krupa (Lisa and Ryan), Bill and Barb Ramore (Meg, Beth and Billy), Ralph and Judy Ramore (Neil and Drew), Mary and Bruce Backhouse (Steph and Bret) and Kit and Dave Weir (Aly and Brit) and cherished niece Shonagh Jabour. Special thanks to the caring staff of West Park Manor, her dear lifelong friend Mary Campbell and the kindness shown by members of the Charleswood United Church. MD was born and raised in Winnipeg. As a young adult she was an accomplished athlete as a competitive swimmer and diver. As a young professional woman she enjoyed a successful career as an executive assistant in Toronto where she met her future husband. MD's accomplishments were many and varied including service as a Girl Guide Commissioner, Swimming and Diving instructor, United Church Lay Minister, Artist and Author. MD was especially proud of sharing her art and poetry in the publication of her book The Wonder of the Moments at the age of 85. She and Bill raised five children and were rewarded with fifteen happy years of retirement in a home they built together on Gabriola Island, BC before returning to Winnipeg for their final years. A Memorial Service for family and close friends will be held at Thomson Funeral Home at 669 Broadway, Winnipeg at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 16, 2011.
