Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJACK ROBINSON February 3, 1948 - July 17, 2011 It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Jack Robinson on July 17, 2011 at Victoria General Hospital. Jack was predeceased by his parents, Des and Lily Robinson. Jack will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife Kate, daughter Jennifer, brothers Tim and Ron, many nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law, and dear friends. Jack had an infectious laugh, a mischievous sense of humour, and a smile that brightened the room. He enjoyed his career at Manitoba Hydro, and during his 30 plus years there, made many lifelong friends. Athletic in his early years, and an avid Bomber fan, he loved sports and the outdoors. When he could no longer play his favourite sports, he looked forward to watching games with family and friends. After he retired, he was happiest on his deck with a rum and coke, surrounded by his loved ones, enjoying the sights and sounds of nature in his backyard. Fishing at Ena Lake, listening to music, polishing his prized 1968 Mustang, reading, and spending time with family and friends were among his cherished pastimes. Always looking on the bright side, Jack faced challenges head on with courage and humour. He relished planning vacations and getaways, and when one door was closed, he always found another one to open. He was a strong advocate for persons with disabilities, and worked hard to improve accessibility. His resilience and the hope he carried in his heart were an inspiration to us all. We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to the nursing, health care, and spiritual care staff at the Victoria General Hospital (Unit 4 North). We are also extremely grateful to Dr. Richard Blouw for his compassionate care. A very special thank-you to Sharon Wilson, minister at Windsor Park United Church, for her guidance and support throughout this journey. Thanks also to friends and family for your visits, hugs, good wishes, shared laughter and tears, food, wine and song in the last weeks of Jack's life. A memorial service celebrating Jack's life will be held on Friday, July 22 at 10:00 a.m. in Windsor Park United Church, 1062 Autumnwood Drive. In honour of Jack's memory, wear your Hawaiian or brightest colour shirt. If friends wish, donations can be made to The Society for Manitobans with Disabilities, 825 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB R3A 1M5. The Coutu family in care of arrangements: E. J. COUTU CO.
