BERNICE (BUNNY) THOMPSON February 27, 1931 August 21, 2011 After a lengthy illness, Bunny passed away on August 21, 2011 at Vista Park Personal Care Home. Bunny was predeceased by her parents, Alfred and Mildred Jones and by her former husband Charles Thompson. She is lovingly remembered by her brother Bruce Jones of Coquitlam, BC; her three children, and their families: son Chuck and Irene (Jamie, Jessie); daughter Sharon and Rick (TJ, Matt, Nick, Mathew, Mason, Mariah) son Gary and Wendy (Luke, Ben). Mom loved her home and her yard. Gardening was her favorite hobby and she excelled at landscape design. Her yard truly was where her soul sang. Mom was also a very accomplished artist, and painted beautiful natural landscapes that she only shared with family and dear friends. Mom had a huge beautiful heart and never had a bad word to say about anyone. She was so very understanding and supportive of her children, and loved all her grandchildren in a very special way. Mom was fun. She knew how to turn simple things into magical experiences when we were young. As a single mom, Bunny worked at Eaton's Gift Wrap Department and then security for Woolco to support us. We remember being huddled around the new stove she worked hard to buy, turning off all the lights and turning on each element to light up the room. Then we would make fudge and watch to see if the drop of fudge turned into a ball indicating that it was ready. Mom often would surprise us by donning a gorilla mask and chasing us around the house until we were squealing so hard we couldn't breathe. Mom also coached us on some great life lessons such as when our pet rabbit died. She ensured we had a celebration of that short bunny life so we had a parade, flowers, music and a burial plot. Of those lessons, the ones that continue to resonate with us are caring for others, respect, honesty and unconditional love. Thanks Mom for being the best Mom a child could ever want. We will pass it on and let it flow. We love you. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held on Friday, August 26, at 11:00 a.m. at the Coutu Funeral Chapel, 680 Archibald St. Internment will follow the funeral reception in St. Vital Cemetery where Bunny will, as per her wishes, be placed to rest with her mother.
