ELIZABETH BEATRICE POPOVICH (nee STEFANIK) It is with profound sadness and broken hearts that we announce the passing of Elizabeth Beatrice; our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunty and best friend. Our Mom, one of nineteen, was born and raised in her treasured Kenora, Ontario, where she loved and cared for her family and family of friends. Mom proudly served as a chef in the Second World War with the Royal Canadian Air Force holding a variety of Ontario based postings. Her sister Margaret and sister-in-law Mary introduced Mom to the love of her life Peter. They eventually moved to Winnipeg where they were married on November 8th, 1952. They were blessed with an incredible love and truly rare bond. She exceeded her matriarchal role in a family she was so overwhelmingly proud of and devoted her life to raising and tending to. She was a rare treasure; a woman of unshakable faith, tenacious strength, enriched understanding and profound wisdom and we will be forever grateful for the gift she was. She was a delight, she enriched the lives of those she met, even if briefly; her spirit and personality reached all hearts. Mom is now in the loving, caring hands of God. She is reunited with her deeply loved husband Peter; beloved granddaughter Tricia; her parents; brothers and sisters, she is truly at peace. She leaves to honour her Judy, Kathy, Susan (Claudio), and Mark (Dawn), the children she so loved; her beloved and truly doted on grandchildren: Colin, Mathew, Cody, Stephanie, Evana and Alexa; and her great-grandson William; as well as her dear sister Margaret; and many beloved nieces and nephews; you all meant so much to her. Mom and Dad were founding members of St. Joseph's Ukrainian Catholic Church; she was an active participant in the Ukrainian Catholic Woman's League recently receiving her 50 year membership commemoration. After surviving a brain aneurism in 2004, Mom moved to unit 2A at the Holy Family Home under the care of Dr. Terry Babick. We thank you Dr. Babick and the Home for your care and guidance. The family would like to extend the most profound gratitude to all who cared for Mom in her times of illness; especially most recently the amazing staff of Emergency and 5U6 at the Seven Oaks General Hospital. Words will never express the gratitude we have or she had for your care, you all went beyond any measure. Special thanks also to Dr. Peter Bialy and colleagues, you were incredible. We will all use Mom's words of encouragement in mourning: God grant me the serenity to accept the things that I cannot change and the wisdom to know the difference. Rest in peace dear Mom and Baba, your love has been etched into our hearts; you will always be with us in spirit, we love you deeply. VICHNAYA PAMYAT KORBAN FUNERAL CHAPEL 956-2193
