HELEN MARIE TINLING (nee KALHEIM) It is with great sadness that the family of Helen Marie Tinling (nee Kalheim) announces her passing on Wednesday September 21, 2011 at Kemptville District Hospital, Kemptville, Ontario at age 89 years. Predeceased by parents Christian Kalheim and Borghild (nee Torgenrud), her loving husband Percy Tinling (2010), and brother Flying Officer Ben Kalheim who was killed in action during the Second World War. Left to mourn and cherish her memory are son Ted (Robin) Nickel, stepson Charlie (Judy) Tinling, brother Ralph Kalheim; nieces Cindy and Debbie (Alex), nephew Tim (Val), grandchildren Kimberly (Peter), Bryan (Cindy) and great-grandchildren and numerous extended family and friends. Helen was born in Norway and came to Canada with her family in 1926 at age four. They settled in the Wilkie, Saskatchewan area. She worked and earned a BA at the University of Winnipeg retiring in 1985. Helen loved to travel and enjoying the company of her many friends. After retirement she and Percy were snowbirds in Texas for 20 years and they traveled extensively. They enjoyed square dancing, playing bridge, golfing and going to the cottage at Trout Lake. Much gratitude to the staff at Hilltop Manor, Merrickville, Ontario and to the staff at Kemptville District Hospital for their kindness and care. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 1, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., Winnipeg. In lieu of flowers please donate to the charity of your choice.
