MARJORIE JEAN THORGEIRSON November 16, 1918 - October 26, 2011 With great sorrow we announce the passing of Grandma Thorgeirson at the age of 92. She was a greatly loved grandmother, mother, and friend to many. Peacefully on Wednesday, October 26, 2011 she went to be with the Lord. She will be lovingly remembered by her son Richard and his wife Stella, her grandchildren Chrystal, Cheryl, James, Erik, Karrie, and Karl, along with her many friends. Marjorie was predeceased by her loving husband Franklin Thorgeirson and her brother Ronald Gibson. Marjorie was born in Winnipeg, and lived most of her life there, until she retired in 1980 and moved to Gimli, Manitoba. She loved children so much that when her husband passed away, she turned that love into dedicating herself to working with mentally handicapped pre-school children at the Kinsmen Centre in Winnipeg. When she retired to Gimli, there was a lot more for her to do, and get involved in. Marjorie won trophies at darts, bowling and finally took her swimming lessons. After mastering swimming, you could find her in the pool many times a week helping handicapped children learn to swim. She followed her family to British Columbia in 2004 and back to Winnipeg in 2011. Following a short stay in Riverview Health Centre, she moved into the Grace Hospice in July of 2011. The staff there quickly fell in love with her. We would like to extend a sincere thank you to the staff in both places for going above and beyond to make Marg's stay a peaceful one. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Grace Hospice Foundation . Arrangements entrusted to: KLASSEN FUNERAL HOME 1897 Henderson Hwy. - 338-0331 Send expressions of sympathy at www.mem.com
