WINNIE JEAN ANN POTAPCHUK (nee KRUKOFF) February 28, 1929 - November 11, 2011 With heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of Jean at Golden Door Geriatric Centre, her chosen home since July 27,2005. Treasured memories of Jean will be forever held by her loving and caring daughter Judy (Bryan), Jean's cherished pride and joy, her grandchildren; Terrance, Jermaine, Vincent, Aimée and Sonia Ramlochan. She will be dearly missed by her nieces Kathy and Debbie, nephew Steven Krukov, numerous cousins and special friends. Jean was predeceased by her husband John, parents Anne and John Krukoff, brothers John and William and sister Vera. Jean was a strong willed compassionate woman willing to help whomever she could. She worked at the Manhattan Restaurant in downtown Winnipeg for over 20 years. Jean lovingly cared for many children, treating them as her own, while she lived on Langside. Jean's biggest achievement was being elected President of Golden Door's Resident Council, a post she held with pride for several years. Jean is known for her love of arts and crafts, fabulous cooking, knitting and music. Extended heartfelt thanks to the staff and friends at Golden Door who ensured Jean's life there was interesting, enjoyable, comfortable and filled with love and compassion. A celebration of Jean's life will take place on Thursday, November 17, 2011 in the Wheeler Funeral Chapel, 211 Regent Avenue West at 7:00 p.m. According to Jean's wishes cremation has taken place with a private family interment at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. If so desired donations in Jean's name may be made to the Parkinsons Society of Manitoba.
