MARCELLO POZZOBONI Sadly, our longtime friend Marcello Pozzoboni passed away on November 25, 2011, at the St. Adolphe Personal Care Home, where he spent the last year of his life. Marcello was born in Montebelluna, Italy, on November 4, 1936, and immigrated to Winnipeg in 1957. Left to mourn him are sisters, Liana, Angelina, and Maria; as well as brother, Antonio, and their respective families, all residing in Montebelluna. Marcello was trained as a house painter and worked in the field for a number of years before joining C.N.R. Transcona Shops, where he worked until he retired in 1995. He was an avid and extremely passionate soccer fan, well known in the Italian community of Winnipeg for his boisterous support of the Italinter Soccer Club. He enjoyed cooking and became famous among his friends for his steaks that he would prepare at any time of the day, including breakfast. A determined and tenacious individual, he undertook many challenging renovation projects at his longtime residence on Maryland Street. On one occasion Marcello was seen driving a bobcat all the way from Transcona to the West End and back across the whole city of Winnipega sight to behold! One of his projects, and a lasting tribute to his industrious spirit, is a solid and well built brick fence that can be seen in front of his house on Maryland Street. Beneath his rough exterior was a soft heart revealed by the love and care for his beloved cats. Marcello had such a unique and colorful personality, that anyone who met him, even briefly, would never forget him. We will miss you very much Marcellino! We would like to thank the staff at the St. Adolphe Personal Care home for their compassionate and loving care at all levels. A funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, November 29 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Adolphe Parish 392 Main Street, St. Adolphe, Manitoba, with Father Dominic La Fleur officiating. Interment to follow at St. Adolphe Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to www.desjardinsfuneralchapel.ca DESJARDINS 233-4949 1-888-233-4949
