IRIS FELKOWSKY It is with great sadness the family announces the peaceful passing of Iris Felkowsky on Friday, December 2, 2011 at the Health Sciences Centre with her family at her side. Iris was predeceased by her parents Alex and Nellie; brother Paul and her son Ward. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 59 years, Stan; daughter Gail; granddaughter Dru (Marc); great-grandson Alex and brother Myron. Iris was born in Lonesand, MB on July 25, 1931 and moved to Winnipeg with her family in 1945, and attended Isaac Newton School. Iris had a very successful career as both a legal assistant and a real estate agent. Before starting her professional career she was a model for the Hudson Bay Company and even won the Miss North Main Beauty Pageant title. Iris enjoyed travelling with her husband on business trips throughout Canada and loved going to visit her family in Miami, Florida. She was an amazing cook who always enjoyed making delicious Sunday dinners for her family, she also loved spending many weeks in the spring and fall picking mushrooms. Mom also took great pride in being an active member of the Ukrainian Canadian Veterans Legion, Branch 141. Iris was a Blue Bomber fan and always cheered them on, even taking the train to Toronto to watch them play in the Grey Cup, she will be sadly missed by her family, and all those who knew her. The family would like to extend a sincere thanks to all the staff at the Health Sciences Centre for the care and compassion given to Iris and our family during her time there. In keeping with Iris's wishes cremation has taken place and a memorial service celebrating her life and the life of her son Ward who predeceased her in 2009 will be held on Thursday, December 8, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. in the Coutu Funeral Chapel, 680 Archibald Street.
