FRANCES MARSHALL It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Frances Marshall on Sunday, December 10, 2011. Longer obituary to follow in Tuesday, December 13, 2011, edition. Funeral Arrangements In Care Of WHEELER FUNERAL CHAPEL 211 REGENT AVE. WEST AT BOND 224-1525

FRANCES MARSHALL (nee PRZEDNOWEK) With her usual grace, Frances passed away peacefully in the presence of her loved ones on Sunday, December 11, 2011 at Donwood Manor in Winnipeg. Fran was born March 4, 1927, in Cook's Creek, Manitoba, to Polish parents, Tom and Tilly Przednowek. She attended Melrose School and was fortunate to be part of the Royal Visit to the school in 1939. In 1941, the family moved to Vivian to farm. Fran helped raise her siblings Emily (Kenny Charles), Carl (Ethel), Helen (Henry Ptak), Al (Kamilia), Violet (Art Doberstein), Mary (Hardy Brochner) and Mike (Sharon). She worked briefly at Eaton's of Canada, the Grain Exchange and the Chocolate Shop, but her destiny was sealed in 1943, when she met Arthur Marshall and they married on October 12, 1946. Fran's passion and dedication from that time on was Art, the love of her life, and raising their family together. Many good memories of Mom are cherished by twin children Bruce (Darlene) and Brian (Jo-Anne), Garry (Naomi), Wendy Curtis (Glen) and Darryl (Jackie). Raising her family and maintaining a family first home was more than a full-time job for Mom and she excelled as an understanding and loving role model for all of us. Although the words may have rarely been spoken, love was not only felt but displayed through all of the homemade meals served in equitable portions, laundry washed on a pre-scheduled day and a home cleaned immaculately. Mom taught her children to be respectful, fair and loving, and her life lessons included cooking, canning and preparing wholesome meals. Mom and Dad moved to Transcona in 1956, to Pine Ridge in 1973, and to Oakbank in 1984, while their family grew up. Mom enjoyed gardening, the outdoors, playing cards and games and became involved in five-pin bowling with her dear friend, Josie Rogers. During retirement, she fell in love with golf. Mom and Dad spent several summers in Beausejour golfing, camping (with fireside sing-alongs) and playing games with friends and family. Together they were also able to enjoy many winters in Mesa, Arizona. Mom and Dad moved back to Winnipeg from Oakbank in 2008, and lived at Donwood Manor since 2010. Frances was predeceased by her parents, and brothers Carl and Mike. In addition to Art and her immediate family, she leaves to mourn 15 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren in Winnipeg, Calgary and Ottawa. The family is very appreciative of the staff at Donwood, who provided exceptional palliative care in her final days. Mom, you are dearly missed but your beautiful personality surviveslife ends, love lives on. Viewing will be held in the Wheeler Funeral Chapel Friday December 16, 2011, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 pm, cremation to follow. A celebration of Frances's life will be held on Saturday, December 17, 2011, at 2:00 p.m. at Oakbank United Church, 582 Balsam Crescent, Oankbank, MB. Reverend Leslie Clark presiding. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Donwood Manor in her memory. Funeral Arrangements In Care Of WHEELER FUNERAL CHAPEL 211 REGENT AVE. WEST AT BOND 224-1525
