Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWILLIAM (BILL) SHAKESPEARE 1919 2011 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Bill Shakespeare on Friday, December 9, 2011, at the age of 92. Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 71 years, Doreen; his children, David (Bonnie) and Susan (Tim); grandchildren, Justin (Sarah), Shannon, Holly and Tristan; and great-grandchildren, Colin, Griffin and Libby. He will be deeply missed. He was predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Ethel; sister, Ruth; and brother, Tom. Bill was born on June 25, 1919, in Clandeboye MB, and moved to Transcona with his family at an early age. After high school Bill went on to complete studies at Dominion Business College. He started his working life with the Canadian National Railways in 1939. This was interrupted by the start of the Second World War. Bill married Doreen on August 2, 1940, just a day before he left Canada to serve in Belgium, France, Germany and Holland. On his return from the war in 1945, Bill continued his employment with the Canadian National Railways as a Carman where he worked until his retirement in 1984. In 1953, Bill built the family cottage at Florence Lake in the Whiteshell Provincial Park where he spent many happy summers with his family. Bill loved the outdoors and all sports, especially hockey, football and curling. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Deer Lodge Centre T5 unit for their devoted care. In keeping with Bill's wishes a private family service will be held at the Transcona Cemetery. If desired, donations may be made in Bill's memory to a charity of your choice.
