VICTOR TERENCE HEBERT Surrounded by his three daughters, Victor Terence Hebert passed away after a long and courageous battle with pulmonary fibrosis to join his beautiful wife Darlene. Dad will be lovingly remembered by his three daughters Kim (Shawn, children Nicholas Justine), Karolyn (Ron, children Aaron, Ethan, Abbey) and Michelle (Kevin, children Roman, Lola, Willow), and sisters Jane, Bridget, Moira and brother Tom. Dad was born on November 27, 1942 and raised in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba where he spent his childhood searching for adventure and getting into mischief with his lifelong friends Bill and Ray. Dad married Mom in August 1967 and soon after started their family. Dad was a hard worker, working two jobs for years to support his family until he became employed at CNR where he worked for over 30 years. After retirement, Dad went on to drive for CP. Dad always put family above all else. We fondly remember the bi-weekly visits to Portage la Prairie to visit Grandma, Grandpa and Aunt Jane; the trip usually included comic books, lifesavers and slurpees. Dad was our moral compass, instilling in us not only the importance of family, but also honesty, integrity and the value of a hard-earned dollar. The math Dad was able to do in his head never ceased to amaze us. He was our walking calculator. Dad's sense of humour and quick wit were second to none. We enjoyed the many poems he wrote when we were kids to humour us into doing the household chores. One of Dad's many interests included carpentry. We treasured the doll house, baby doll cradles, study desks, and Barbie furniture that he made. Gardening though, was his passion. He got such pleasure out of his flowers, shrubs and solar light show he created in his backyard. He also enjoyed collecting Hot Wheels and cruising around in his new Altima (aka Noir Beauty II). Dad lived life to the fullest even in the last few years when things got tough. He always kept his optimism and made plans for the future. Dad was always a strong man. He never complained or indulged in self pity. Even as his illness progressed, Dad put Mom's needs above his own and was her caregiver to the very end. We admire and respect you Dad and we will really miss you. We regret that you won't be able to use your ticket to see your beloved Habs play, but we know you'll be watching the game from the best seat in the house. We love you Dad. Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 19, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Bernadette Parish 820 Cottonwood Road with internment at Transcona Cemetery. Reception to follow at 214 Golden Eagle Drive. Funeral Arrangements In Care Of WHEELER FUNERAL CHAPEL 211 REGENT AVE. WEST AT BOND 224-1525

  • Always happy and such a pleasure to talk to. He was the first person I met when our houses were being built on Golden Eagle. Vic will be missed. Spent a couple afternoons talking in the garden, which he was so proud, he loved to Chang the plants around. God bless you all and your families. - Posted by: John Jolicoeur (old neighbor from 222 Golden Eagle drive) on: Mar 29, 2012
