MINNIE KALUZNICK 1927 - 2011 It is with great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of our dear sister, aunt and friend Minnie Mary Kaluznick aged 84, on December 28, 2011 at the St. Boniface Hospital after suffering a stroke. Minnie was predeceased by her parents William and Mary, brother Edward, sisters Zoe Strychar, Nellie Semnovitch, Olga Oberton . She is survived and lovingly remembered by her sister Steffie Gill, brothers Walter (Stella), Minneapolis and Stan (Bev) Calgary, sister-in- law Olga Kaluznick, numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and their families. Minnie was a lifelong resident of St. Boniface, living in the family home on Giroux St. until 2002 at which time she moved to Sts. Peter and Paul Manor. She was employed by Maple Leaf Mills for 32 years until the company closed its doors in 1981. During the next few years, new employment opportunities came her way and she officially retired in 1987. Minnie did not need much to make her happy. She loved being surrounded by pretty things and never left home without her makeup and jewellery on! She enjoyed bingo and going to the casino, music, reading, watching old movies, and had a great interest in the royal family. She was fortunate to have taken several memorable trips to far and away places throughout the years. Minnie looked forward to family gatherings and celebrations. She enjoyed the traditional Ukrainian dishes and her sisters (all fabulous cooks) made sure she was always well supplied. She was very interested in the comings and goings of her family members, all four generations and each have their own special memories of her. Thank you to the doctors and nurses on 6A St. Boniface Hospital for taking good care of her and for your understanding and kindness towards her family. Thank you also to the homecare workers and to her friends and neighbours at Sts. Peter and Paul Manor for your concern and caring. Thank you Chad Wheeler for your guidance and compassion. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Wheeler Funeral Chapel, 211 Regent Ave. West, viewing will take place half hour before the service. Fr. Carl J. Tarnopolski presiding. Interment to follow at St. Boniface Cemetery, In lieu of flowers donations to a charity of one's choice would be appreciated.
