MELVIN JAMES STUART It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Melvin James Stuart (Mel) on Thursday, January 5, 2012 at the age of 71 years at the St. Boniface Hospital. Mel is survived and will be missed by Gail, his wife of 49 years, daughter Melony Bennett (Todd and daughters Taryn and Kaitlin); sons Jamie (Barb), Bob (Sheri, daughters Michelle (Chad) and daughter Paige, Melissa (Dave) and children Kyla and David, Meagan and her daughter Hailey, and Madison), Tim (Valerie, daughters Alyssa and Kiana). Mel is also survived by his brothers, Pat and Brian (Linda); as well as sisters, Janine (Brian) and Darlene (Craig); his sisters-in-law, Margaret, Winnie, Arlene and Judy and several nieces and nephews. Mel was predeceased by his father Jim, his mother Simone and brother Roger. Mel was born on January 14, 1940 and lived his entire life in Winnipeg. Mel always believed that family was the most important thing in life. The last years for Mel were very special to him as he focused and dedicated his energy on his eight granddaughters and four great-grand-children whom he loved so much. It was that focus and love that helped sustain him and allowed him to carry on through the difficult times with his illness. His grandchildren will never forget how much he loved them and because of that, those heartfelt sentiments will live forever. In keeping with Mel's wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family memorial service will be held in his honour on Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in the Coutu Funeral Chapel, 680 Archibald Street. Our family would like to thank CancerCare Manitoba for their work and the compassion they showed during his illness the last few years. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Mel to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Avenue, Room ON1160, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3E 0V9. The Coutu family in care of arrangements: E. J. • My sincere condolences to the family. Mel will be sadly missed by all who knew him. •God saw you getting tired and a cure was not to be. So He put His arms around you and whispered "Come to Me." With tearful eyes we watched you, and saw you pass away. Although we loved you dearly, we could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hardworking hands at rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takes the best. - Posted by: Simone Wiebe (Carriere) (Cousin) on: Jan 08, 2012
