Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDOUGLAS (DOUG) HAIG MCDONALD November 9, 1918 - January 20, 2012 Doug grew up in a big family with six brothers and two sisters. He met the love of his life, Christine (Chris) Hughes, in 1937, and married in 1940. They spent the rest of their lives together until Chris passed away in 2008. Doug was an active hunter and fisherman, enjoying deer hunting with brother Roy, near his farm in Sidney, MB, and spent many happy summer mornings catching pickerel at Big Whiteshell Lake, where they bought a cabin. After retiring from 37 years with C.N.R, they began to spend winters in Palm Springs where Doug volunteered at a local charity organization and also picked up a little work at the Bob Hope Golf tournaments. They enjoyed more than 20 years wintering in Palm Springs. As everywhere, they had a busy social life with so many good friends. Doug is survived by his two sons, Jim and Doug Jr.; daughters-in-law, Teena and Margarita; grandchildren, Jamie, Kelly, Christopher and Meagan. Doug will be remembered and missed by his many friends, especially Shirley and Bruce Wahl and great neighbours from their Park Circle days; his many relatives, Jack and Shirley McDonald, the McDonald relatives at the farm, as well as relatives from East to West and the USA. Our sincere thanks to all the staff at Tower 5, Deer Lodge for taking such good care of our dad, grandfather and friend. May he rest in peace with his true love, Chris, with whom he is surely united. A Memorial Service will be held in the spring and the date and time will be posted in the paper at a later date. Funeral Arrangements In Care Of WHEELER FUNERAL CHAPEL 211 REGENT AVE.
