ORAM DONAT JOESPH PROULX La Coulee Manitoba October 8, 1930 January 26, 2012 We are announcing with heavy hearts and sadness, the passing of our father. After a brief illness on Thursday, January 26, 2012, at the young age of 81. Oram is predeceased by his loving wife, Verna (Easton) Proulx; his parents, Paul and Diana Proulx; his brothers, Horace and René; and sister, Yvonne. Dad is survived by his eight siblingsthree sisters, five brothers. Dad will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered forever in the hearts of his five children, Lynda (Robert), Valerie (Norm), Debbie (Ian), Darlene and Sheldon (Lisa). Dad has 13 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. Dad has numerous nieces and nephews, as well as, great friends and extended family. Dad was a well respected, dedicated member of our community and a member of the church, the Knights of Columbus. He was Counselor of Ward 4 for 29 years. People continued to come to him for consultations about issues they were continually having. Because he knew Ward 4 like the back of his hand, and was very honest, they trusted him and his opinions. He was Chief Engineer for 45 years at International Labs. Dad and Mom built the restaurant called Vern's Snack Bar, grocery store, gas bar, and pool hall. The World's Greatest Dad, always made time for us. He played games with us and took us to places as a family. Dad, you are with the love of your life, Mom. You both will be in our hearts, prayers and thoughts forever. We would like to say a special thank you to Dr. Bissionette, Dr. Doan, Dr. Crow, and the nursing staff at St. Boniface Hospital on the palliative care ward; very special thank you to Neil for all the extra attention and comfort you gave Dad and support you gave our family. Funeral Services will be held on February 10, 2012 at the Ste. Anne Roman Catholic Church on Central Street, Ste. Anne, MB. Celebration of life will be at 2:00 p.m. Mass will be held at 2:30 p.m. Reception at the Seine River Banquet Hall, located at 80 Arena Road, Ste Anne, MB.

Condolences & Memories (6 entries)

  • I miss you immensely. You taught me how to plant potatoes, you brought my sisters and cousins and I for tractor rides. I was so young. If only I had the chance to speak with you after I aged a bit more. You were more of a father figure to me than anyone. I will always remember you Grandpa. I got a tattoo to commemorate you, grandma, and Jeromie’s passing. It’s been too long since I’ve heard you speak. I hope it’s going well up there. - Posted by: Sebastian Durand (Great Grandson) on: Nov 06, 2019

  • I will miss you grandpa. forever and always. If only you could see that mom misses you so much. :) - Posted by: Salem Durand (Great Granddaughter) on: Jun 01, 2012

  • May Gods love, comfort, and peace surround Orams family during this time of sorrow. His warmth, love and kindness will be remembered. We will miss him but also find joy knowing that he and Verna are together again - Posted by: Roger and Eileen Orieux (Cousin) on: Feb 25, 2012

  • I will remember Oram especially when he worked @ Intenational Labs. Our family (my mom, brother Pitou and I) had just moved to the city and I would see Oram @ lunch time at the Alouette Cafe where he had his lunch from time to time. It was a pleasure talking to him and keeping in touch with the people I missed from St. Anne. He was a lovely man and my deepest condolences to all of you. - Posted by: Doreen Vandal (friend) on: Feb 10, 2012

  • Sorry we can't be there to offer our sympathy to you all in person. We are in B.C until the end of March. Your father was a great friend to Al when they were on council together. It's hard to be strong at a time like this, but rest assured that your Dad and Mom are happy to be together again. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
