MARGARET THORPE (nee HUTCHEON) On Thursday, February 2, 2012, Margaret passed away at the Charleswood Care Centre at the age of 90 years. She is survived by daughter Susan, son Gordon, granddaughter Lara, sisters Mary and Agnes, sisters-in-law Evelyn, Pat, and Vivian, brother-in-law John and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by husband Jim, parents Charles and Mary Hutcheon, sisters Violet and May and brothers Don and Alex. Margaret was born July 10, 1921 in Port Arthur, Thunder Bay, ON moving to Winnipeg as a child. She worked at Eaton's prior to her marriage returning to work there once her family was raised. Margaret was a longtime resident of St. Vital until moving to the Charleswood Care Centre in 2008. Margaret was very artistic and attended art school as a young woman. In addition to her art work, she enjoyed all types of crafts, gardening, reading and doing crossword puzzles. We would like to thank the staff of Unit 3 at the Charleswood Care Centre for taking such good care of our mother for the past three years. Cremation has taken place and a come and go reception celebrating Margaret's life will be held for family and friends on Saturday, February 11, 2012 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Coutu Funeral Home, 680 Archibald Street. A private family interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire donations may be made in memory of Margaret to the Winnipeg Humane Society or the Alzheimer's Society of Manitoba.
