MALGORZATA (GOSIA) LELIGDOWICZ
Date of Passing: Feb 21, 2012
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMalgorzata (Gosia) Leligdowicz, passed away peacefully in her home, holding the hands of her daughters Aleksandra (Ola) and Ewa and her husband Andrzej, on Tuesday, February 21, 2012. Gosia was born in Katowice, Poland in 1956, where she received her engineering degree and met her husband Andrzej in 1978. They soon married, and welcomed their daughters Ola and Ewa, after she bicycled alone in labour to the delivery ward. She wholeheartedly devoted herself to being a mother and wife, teaching those around her about the importance of unconditional giving and forgiveness. To offer a better future for their young family, Gosia and Andrzej left Poland 20 years ago. In a country where she initially didn't know anyone, Gosia's positive personality, joyful demeanour and selflessness allowed her to make deep connections with her coworkers at Guertin Brothers and Chemcraft, with her friends in the Polish community and at her church, as well as with the family of her much loved son-in-law, Daniel Rasic. Gosia loved to travel and her lifelong dream was fulfilled when she climbed the ruins of Machu Picchu. With the birth of her grandchildren, Maya and then Luka, Gosia made a transition from 'Mamusia' to 'Babcia', and she took great pleasure in spending time with her little 'skarby'. Our family extends heartfelt thanks to friends, nurses, especially Denise and Kate, and doctors who made Gosia's struggle with illness easier to bear and helped to maximize the time she had with her husband, children, and grandchildren. Her family in Poland and in Canada grieve her loss tremendously. They wait to be reunited in Heaven. Prayers in Gosia's memory will be held at St. Andrew Bobola Church, 541 Marion St. on Friday, February 24 at 8:00 p.m. The funeral mass will take place at the same location on Saturday, February 25 at 10:00 a.m. She will be laid to rest in her family tomb in Oswiecim, Poland. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Gosia may be made to CancerCare Manitoba Foundation, 675 McDermot Ave., Room ON1160, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9.

Dear Leligdowicz Family, I often chatted with your dear wife and mother at Mass. I remember her pride in her daughters, love of Daniel and excitement over the grandchildren. I especially remember her gracious presence at Ewa's Bridal Shower at St. Andrew Bobola. She was a gift to me when I struggled with treatments of my own. She lived with so much grace. I just learned of her passing today , Good Friday, at St. Andrew Bobola. You are all in my prayers and thoughts. Thank God she lives on in you. I will make a donation to Cancer Care in her name. Brak mi słów....Okropnie żal i przykro. Wspierajcie tate. - Posted by: Lidka () on: Mar 04, 2012

Gosia had this unique personality that made everyone instantly become her friend. We valued her friendship for many years. She was genuinely interested in well being of her friends and colleagues always ready to help. It was impossible to be sad in her company. Her enthusiasms, warmth, optimism and vitality were contagious. Even in the face of her biggest challenge in her life, her illness, she remained upbeat and optimistic, not wanting to burden anybody with her plight. Gosia, maybe you are not longer with us but you will remain in our hearts forever. Andrzej, Ola and Ewa - our thoughts are with you in this time of sorrow. - Posted by: Marianna i Leon Rozenberg (Friends) on: Feb 24, 2012
