RICHARD SPENCER It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Richard Spencer. He died peacefully at home on Thursday, March 8, 2012. His mother Albina predeceased him. He leaves behind his loving wife of 41 years, Betty Ann; as well as his daughter Tammy, his son-in-law Rob, and grandchildren, Mackenzie, Nevin, Syerra, and Kassidy. Richard was a caring and helpful man who took great pride in maintaining his yard. He enjoyed travelling and many fond memories were created during these trips across Canada, Europe, Mexico, and the United States. He began his employment at Eaton's Catalogue and then work as a bus driver for Winnipeg Transit. There he developed lasting relationships with many of his passengers. Some of his young passengers would share their report cards with him first and others often confided in him about their personal relationships. Other passengers kept him well fed with special baking and the produce from their gardens. He fulfilled a lifelong dream of his when he purchased a cottage at Island Beach in 2005. There he enjoyed many hours at home with nature while grooming his many flowerbeds, caring for his magnificent lawn, watching the wildlife, and listening to the hypnotizing sounds of the nearby lake. Even though our hearts are saddened, we know that Rick is now at rest without pain in his Savior's arms. We will forever miss seeing those piercing blue eyes and hearing your low melodic voice. A memorial service for family and close friends will be help on Tuesday, March 13, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. at Glen Lawn Funeral Home - 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
