Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDONALD ROBERT PRETEAU 1955 - 2012 It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved Don, at age 56 years, at Morton Plantar Hospital in Clearwater, Florida on Sunday, February 26, 2012. Don will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of 36 years, Wilma and son Robert. He also leaves to mourn his sisters Celine Shewchuk (Peter), Yolande Delorme (Jack), Georgette Tetrault (Richard), and brothers Rene Preteau (Betty) and Normand Preteau (Rose), Lola Preteau as well as his cousin and best friend Ron and Ida Allaire, tante Jeannine Allaire, Anne Rattray (Glen), Irene Groot-Koerkamp (Greg), numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Don was predeceased by his parents Denise and Aubert Preteau, sisters-in-law Marie-Paule and Monique, and parents-in-law Anthony and Johanna Groot Koerkamp. Don was born August 27, 1955 in St. Malo but lived in Winnipeg most of his life. Don married his high school sweetheart, Wilma (Groot Koerkamp) in 1975 and a few years later his son Robert was born which was a very happy and proud day. Don was a kind, caring, loving and devoted husband, father and brother. He will be always loved and forever missed. During his career, Don worked as a manager for the Winnipeg Free Press for 26 years and then as a manager for Shaw Cable for 12 years. As a manager, Don always strived to be fair and to treat people with respect. Don had just semi-retired last year and was enjoying working in sales for 4 Seasons Heating and Cooling and Home Depot which enabled him to realize his dream and spend January and February in Florida. The family would like to extend their thanks to the emergency EMT, the ER doctors and nurses at Morton Plantar Hospital in Clearwater, Florida for their efforts. Also special thanks to Chaplain Sister Phyllis Shaughnessy, ER nurse Katie, Peri Craven, Jody Nicholson, Sheila Farago, Fr. Barry Schoonbaert and to family and friends for your caring and support. A funeral mass celebrating Don's life will be held on Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Vital Catholic Church, 1629 Pembina Hwy. Fr. Barry Schoonbaert officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Don's memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation at Suite 200, 6 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB, R3L 0K6 or Centre Flavie-Laurent, 164 Marion St., Winnipeg, MB, R2H 0T4. It broke our hearts to lose you, you did not go alone. For part of us went with you, the day God called you home.
