MYRNA LOVE On the morning of March 27, 2012, while holding her granddaughter Janna's hand, our much loved and cherished mother, Myrna Corinne (Marren) Love, passed away. She was born in Tyvan, Saskatchewan in 1934, and lived her formative years on a farm just outside of town. During her youth, our mom was an accomplished athlete, and developed a life-long passion for baseball. When her sons were small she could often be seen pitching the ball to them on Princess Place in Regina. She was an avid bowler in her youth, and as an adult she spent many winters at the curling rink. As a teenager, our mom would often babysit during the summer months, and it was while babysitting at the beach, that she first caught our father's eye. He was smitten, and who wouldn't be...she was a stunning beauty and fun to be with. She eloped with our father just prior to her 21st birthday and stayed home to raise the five of us until we were all well into school. Try as she might to escape her small town roots, she could not hide the fact that she could chop wood and shovel snow like a true Saskatchewan farm girl. She was an amazing hostess, and along with our father had some very memorable parties. That talent was often called upon to organize events in the workplace, and she loved doing it. She was an executive secretary at Deloitte Touche until her retirement at age 60, and she missed the responsibility very much after she left. Always a community leader, she filled the retirement years by volunteering for many causes, including Heart and Stroke and the Diabetes Society. The last five years of her life were difficult as she struggled to come to terms with a progressively debilitating disease. Corticobasal Degeneration first robbed our mother of her ability to communicate clearly. This caused her much anxiety and frustration as she was the best communicator when we were all growing up. I suppose with five children born within eight years she had to be! She lost her husband of nearly 56 years, Don Love, in December 2010. She was also predeceased by her parents, Jack and Maybelle Marren, and all her siblings: Marvin, Byrdine Meyers, and Murray. She lived the last four years of her life in a nursing home, and we are so very thankful that her final three years were spent with the nurturing care from the staff at Riverview. She is survived by three sisters-in-law, and two brothers-in-law: Shirley Marren of Calgary, Nancy (Love) and Don Hipperson of Regina, and Mike and Jean Love of Denver, CO. There are also many nieces, nephews and friends scattered across the continent who she loved dearly. Our mother left a lasting legacy of children who will never forget. Daughter: Laura (Jim) Richardson, sons: Mike (Marijka), Shawn (Donalda), Tim and Kevin. Grands and (greats): Scott (Mikayla, Madison); Janna (Kylee, Emma, Abby); Jeff and Janice (Jorja, Jack); Curtis (Bailey), Monique and Ladi (Kaleah, Ava, Isaiah); Ryan, Ben. A private family burial will take place. Donations to the Deer Lodge Foundation with a memo to Movement Disorder Clinic (200 Woodlawn) in memory of Myrna Love would be greatly appreciated. Flowers gratefully declined. Family and friends may sign a Book of Condolence at www.glenlawn.ca Glen Lawn Funeral Home 982-7550

My Mother was at Riverview too. I often spoke with Myrna and her sons and grandsons when they came by to visit with a McDonalds meal for Myrna, her favorite treat. I will miss her beautiful smile. My condolences to the loving family. Charleen Macdonald, friend - Posted by: Charleen Macdonald (friend at Riverview Health Centre) on: Apr 06, 2012

John and I have have the opportunity to share some great memories with Myrna's children; in particular Laura and Jim while we were in Alberta for a visit enjoying their wonderful hospitality, Kevin with the many great events being held at his home and Mike; meeting here and there for a refreshment or two. Rest in peace Myrna and know that the memory of you lives on through your children and grandbabies(greats too). Our thoughts are with you all through this difficult time. My parents were Ron and Dorothy Keating from Regina/Lampman. They are both deceased now, my mom just last May. I know my folks often kept in touch with your folks. So I pass our sincere condolences on to all of you. It is very hard to be without parents and particularily the mother who gave you all life and love. I can only hope and pray, that she and your dad are resting in peace and that you hold all the best of memories of them in your heart. God Bless. Years ago when I was dating her son Tim, I knew Myrna. She was a fantastic lady, very devoted to her family, fun-loving and and all around a great person to be with. I remember our downtown lunches (we worked in the same office tower), the day we made spaghetti sauce together, and all the times she helped me and Tim. She was the best and I am so sorry to hear she has passed away. My condolences to the entire family. - Posted by: Monique St. Germain (A long time ago I dated her son) on: Mar 31, 2012

Was really sad to hear from Shirley Marren that Myrna had passed. We never got together much over the years. She came to our 50th with Murray and Shirley. We got acquainted and enjoyed her visit. My thoughts are with you kids. She will be missed - Posted by: Maureen Nelson (Cousin. My mother , Aunt Susie Pineau , Was Jacks sister.) on: Mar 30, 2012

As a high school student in Regina I was employed by Myrna's husband Don at his men's wear store called Mac&Mac. That summer as renovations to the business were being completed Don asked if I could do some yard work at his home putting down some patio blocks. This is when I got to meet Mrs. Love and the young Love's that were playing in the yard. Somehow one of the boys...Shawn or Mike got hurt bad enough that it required a trip to the Grey Nun's hospital. I was the only one around with a car (I was hoping I had enough gas to make it). So Mrs. Love and the kids poured into my not so wonderful car and we drove to the hospital where the injury was taken care of, Myrna fully in charge and in control. She was a gracious person, it was my pleasure to see her from time to time while I was working for Don. That was 50 years ago but the good memories they generated resonates well for me still. We all ended up living in Winnipeg, bumped into Don several times over the years, always had a nice conversation about the Love Family and Mac&Mac which was a wonderful high quality men's wear store (lots of good memories). I was saddened to read this news about Myrna tonight, and I wish the Love Family all the best. - Posted by: Lance Potts (Acquaintance) on: Mar 30, 2012

I worked with Myrna many years ago and she always amazed me with her zest for work, play and family. She seemed to sincerely care for everyone, but of course above all her family. I'm sure she had a very full life and would like to convey my sympathies to her children and grandchildren. - Posted by: Tracy(Alix) Johnson (co worker) on: Mar 30, 2012
