FLORENCE STROGAL (NESPIAK) (nee GURALIUK) April 5 1931 - April 1 2012 On the evening of April 1, surrounded by her family, Florence passed away peacefully. She will be forever loved and remembered by her husband of nearly 30 years, John, son Don (grandchildren Angela and Jeffrey), daughter Joan, sisters Liz (Searle) Copsey and Pauline (Gene) Byers, brother Gordon Tokar, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, her sisters Vera and Helen and her brother Pete. Florence was born and raised on the family farm in Boulton, Manitoba. She brought her hardworking country values to Winnipeg when she settled here in the late 1950s. Florence worked for nearly 30 years at James Richardson Sons in the cafeteria where she was known and loved by many of the company's employees. She often said how much she enjoyed her customers, and it was clear from looking at old photographs and reading the card that they gave her upon her retirement how much they enjoyed her too! After her retirement in 1989, Florence devoted her time and energy to taking care of her family. Her first and foremost concern was always for their well-being. Whether she was tending her abundant vegetable garden (which she absolutely loved!), cooking and baking (she made so many wonderful treats, especially her ginger snaps, puffed wheat cake, and lemon meringue pie!), or hosting a gathering in her beautifully kept home, everything she did was for them. Florence was an extremely giving and generous person, and she was always there to help her children and grandchildren with whatever was needed. We all love her and miss her more than words can say... The family would like to thank all of the home care nurses, Dr. Daeninck and the staff at CancerCare Manitoba and especially the palliative care nurses at the St. Boniface Hospital for the care they gave to Florence during her year long battle with pancreatic cancer. In accordance with Florence's wishes, a private family service will be held. Family was everything to Florence. In honour of her, take the time to enjoy your loved ones this Easter weekend and always... The Coutu family in care of arrangements: E.J. COUTU CO. Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • Flo loved her children more than life itself, I think, and when the grandchildren came along, it just added more to her family. I can still see her in her lovely yellow dress at Myrna and Don's wedding, looking so young and lovely. - Posted by: Judy Wilson (friend of daughter-in-law) on: Apr 06, 2012

  • I met Florence through her daughter Joan, when she very generously parted with a bike that she could have gotten much more for through a garage sale; she also, again very generously shared wonderful veggies from her abundant garden with me; nothing like fresh veggies! I feel she is at peace now, and wish peace and joy in her memories to her family members. - Posted by: Tanis Moore () on: Apr 05, 2012
