PATRICIA COMASKEY
Date of Passing: Apr 05, 2012
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryPATRICIA COMASKEY February 9, 1944 - April 5, 2012 It is with very heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, sister (in-law), daughter-in-law, cousin and auntie, Patricia (Pat) Comaskey after a brief illness. Pat will be sadly missed by her daughter Brenda (Mike), son David (Becky), grandsons Liam and Brady, sisters Anne, Olive (Pat) and Maureen, mother-in-law Martha, cousin Bridie, brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews, extended family and dear friends. Pat was born Catherine Patricia Sheerin in Archerstown, Westmeath, Ireland. In 1967, she followed her heart and immigrated to Thompson, MB where her Love, Bill, had immigrated the previous year. They married in Thompson and raised two children, Brenda and David. After David entered school, Pat returned to work and began a lengthy career at the Thompson General Hospital. She spent many enjoyable years in Medical Records until her retirement with a group of colleagues who were also her good friends. Pat was a loyal supporter of Bill's political career from the time he first joined Thompson City Council in 1989 to his retirement as Mayor in 2006. She joined Bill on many of his business trips and they were blessed with the opportunity to travel across Canada. Visits with her children were always a priority, whether in Thompson or on frequent trips to Winnipeg. Pat embraced every moment of these visits and she and Bill looked forward to their move to Winnipeg to be closer to their children, which they did in October, 2006. From the early days in Thompson and most recently at the Southwood Golf and Country Club, Pat loved the game of golf, especially with her favourite golf partner, Bill. Together, they spent their summers golfing with friends and were able to enjoy several trips south in the winter most recently to Florida in February, 2011. Tragically, Pat lost the love of her life when Bill passed away at the age of 65 on June 2, 2011. We wish to thank the staff at Victoria General Hospital for all the care they provided for Pat and our family. Funeral services will take place Thursday, April 12 at 9:30 a.m. at the Holy Cross Church, 252 Dubuc Street, Winnipeg, with interment and reception to follow at the Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home. Glen Lawn Funeral Home in care of arrangements, 982-7550. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Cancer Care Manitoba. For Dave, Brenda, and their entire family. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your Mom and Dad. As mentioned so many times by others, I am honoured to call Bill and Pat our friends as we are with you two. It's no wonder you two turned out like you have. David is caring, witty, and just great to be around exactly like Bill. Brenda is beautiful, intelligent, and classy just like Pat. We're so deeply saddened with all of this but will always be reminded of how great they are everytime we're with you. Take care you two, lots of love from the Fillions. - Posted by: Cary and Dawn Fillion (Friends of Dave and Brenda.) on: Apr 11, 2012

I am so saddened by the devastating news of Pat's passing so soon after Bill. Very difficult time for Brenda, David and families. My sincere condolences to all, also Pat & Billy's families in Ireland. Pat & I shared an apartment in Thompson many years ago when we had many happy carefree times together, with many other ex pats from Ireland. I was a bridesmaid at Pat and Bill's wedding and also was honoured to be Brenda's godmother. Farewell my friend. You will be happy to be reunited with Bill the love of your life. My late husband, Brian, and I came to be friends with Pat and her late husband, Bill, when Brian served on Thompson City Council with Mayor Bill, twice as Deputy Mayor. It was very touching to our family when Bill made a special journey back to Thompson two years ago to speak at Brian's funeral. Pat was a great support to Bill, attending many functions and it was good to have shared those times together. They all have left a void but, most of all, a legacy to the City of Thompson. As Bill would have said, "Rest in Peace," Pat. He was probably waiting for her with open arms and that big grin on his face. God Bless Pat. - Posted by: Valerie Wilson (Friend; also widow of Brian Wilson who served on Thompson City Council with Bill.) on: Apr 09, 2012
