Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryYUEN ARK YEE Peacefully, with his family by his side, Yuen Ark Yee passed away at Victoria General Hospital on Tuesday, April 3, 2012. Yuen Ark is survived by his loving wife, Fung Ha; his children Philip (Mei-Ying), Marion (Mario) Tuzi, Walter, and Cathy (Adam) Rickner; grandchildren Jonathan (Suzanne), Jason, Justin (Lisa), Natasha, and Skye; great- grandchildren Katelyn, Kyra, Emma, Izaac, and Jayden; sister Amy Wong, brother Henry (Amy), and numerous nieces and nephews. Yuen Ark was born on December 6, 1928 in Canton, China. He was a teacher in China before immigrating to Winnipeg in 1955. Enduring the hardship of being a new immigrant and supporting a young family, he worked hard in a Chinese grocery (Wah Hing) before proudly opening up his own store Yee's Grocery in Winnipeg's Chinatown. After retirement, he was a significant part in establishing the family business, 4 Seasons Chinese Food Restaurant in Southdale. The restaurant's younger staff affectionately referred to him as grandpa. Yuen Ark was very well known for his kindness and generosity among his friends and relatives. He had a love for discussions on the topic of Chinese history. His talent for Chinese Calligraphy was sought out in the Chinese community. House plants and miniature trees would flourish under his tender care. He has donated to countless foundations and different organizations throughout his life time. He will be sorely missed by his family and friends. Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at Glen Lawn Funeral Home. Interment to follow after the service. If people so desire, donations may be made in Memory of Yuen Ark Yee to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 200-6 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6. After attending Yee Sook's funeral yesterday, my father and I reminisced about the mah jong evenings held on Pacific Avenue many years ago.
