LAWRENCE ANDREW SLOBODIAN It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Lawrence Andrew Slobodian on April 9, 2012 at the age of 75, at Concordia Hospital. Generous, strong, lover of life, devoted father, grandfather, brother and friend, Lawrence passed away peacefully surrounded by his family. He will be cherished in memory by his children, Charlene (Bill Taylor), Michael (Bonnie), Brenda (Rick Pharand), their mother Claudette, two grandsons Cameron and Riley, three granddaughters, Alexi, Payton and Brooke, sisters Elaine Stupack and Helen Slobodian, and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Lawrence was predeceased by his mother, Anastasia, father, Nicholas, his brother Michael, and sister Mary Dandeneau. He was born in Thalberg, Manitoba where he grew up on a farm and lived during the first years of his marriage. He and his family then resided for a number of years in British Columbia, where he worked as a carpenter before returning to reside in Transcona. Time spent at his cabin in Traverse Bay represented a return to nature, and meaningful opportunities to grow beautiful gardens and to host family and friend gatherings, filled with wonderful food and lots of laughter and fun. He was a great and caring grandpa. Dad you are the heart in our hearts . A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, April 17, at 2:00 p.m., Wheeler Funeral Chapel, 211 Regent Avenue West in Transcona. The family would like to thank Dr. Dennis Caners for his dedicated care, and give thanks to all who provided health care services with compassion. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in Lawrence's memory to The Manitoba Lung Association or CancerCare Manitoba. • Uncle Lawrence was a gentle soul who would never intentionally harm or offend anyone, and was always quick with a wink or a smile, or to lend a helping hand. We'll miss his humor and laughter. Sorry we can't be in Winnipeg to be with family, but Uncle Lawrence will always be in our hearts and will never be forgotten.
