MARY PURDEN PEDRICK April 3, 1937 April 14, 2012 After a brief illness, Mary Pedrick, peacefully passed away, on April 14, 2012, at the age of 75 years. Mary was predeceased by her husband, Len, Mary leaves to mourn her children Kathryn (Jean-Pierre), Leslie (Brad Goerzen) and Derek (Lisa) and grandchildren Riley and Zachary (Goerzen), Chantal and Dominique (Romano) and Lauryn, Ty and Shay (Pedrick). Mary grew up in Transcona and graduated from Transcona Collegiate Institute. Mary participated in the Young Peoples group at Transcona United Church. Her first job was with International Harvester. Mary stepped back from working to raise her family until her last part time position with Roman Equipment prior to heading off to Africa with Len and the family. Her time in Africa started her lifelong love of golf and bridge. Mary and Len were married in September 1957 and started their family in 1960 in Transcona. Mary was a dedicated homemaker, fantastic cook, seamstress, gardener and crafter. She tried her hand at direct sales, starting with Tupperware when her kids were young and later being a Michele Lynn jewelry consultant for several years. Mary was an active member in the PEO Sisterhood, since 1966, holding many offices with three terms as President of Chapter L. She cultivated many friendships over the years with her neighbours from Transcona, Kabwe and Sandy Hook. In 1995 Mary and Len built their retirement home in Sandy Hook overlooking the 13th hole. Mary was active in the Sandy Hook Ladies Section participating in the annual Hookerette for many years, last year's tournament being one of her best rounds. Mary spent many hours caring for her yard and gardens, and the tender care showed. Mary played bridge weekly with a few groups over the years. Mary was always eager to share the activities and accomplishments of her grandchildren. Mary and Len, enjoyed travelling, gathered many friends and until his passing, had perfected the Snow Bird routine with winters in Texas, Arizona and California. Our family would like to thank family and friends for their visits, kind thoughts and warm caring wishes over the past few weeks. We would also like to thank the staff at Concordia Hospital where their dedication and compassionate care is greatly appreciated. Special thanks to Dr. Denis Caners for his thoughtful and considerate care. A celebration of Mary's life will be held Friday, April 20, 2012 at 2:30 p.m. at Transcona Memorial United Church, 209 Yale Avenue West.
