ERNEST JOHN HARRIS 1925 - 2012 Ernie passed away peacefully Saturday, April 14, 2012 with his wife Eva, of 65 years, by his side. He will be greatly missed by Eva, his son Jim (Marie), his daughter Sandra (Pat), his 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, his sister Myrtle (Jake), his in-laws Mary and Ed (Beryl), his cousins, especially Dorothy, his many nieces, nephews and friends. Ernie is predeceased by his sisters Meta, Doris, and Joan. Ernie was born in Regina, SK, August 5, 1925. He joined the R.C.A.F. at 18 and received his Pilot's Wings at 19 in England. He returned to Regina and met Eva, the love of his life, whom he married June 28, 1947. He rejoined the R.C.A.F. in 1951 and was stationed in Greenwood, NS, Comox, BC, Moose Jaw, SK and lastly in Winnipeg. In 1957 he transferred to 402 Reserve Squadron where he served for 19 years, being promoted to Colonel and retiring in 1976 as Commander 3 Reserve Region. Ernie was also a member of the Wartime Pilots Association. Ernie worked for the Manitoba Government from 1958 until his retirement in 1983 when he was serving as head of the Marine Division. He was a member of the Prendergast Seniors where he served as President for several years. Ernie also received the Queens Golden Jubilee Medal in 2003. Ernie will be greatly missed and remembered for his fond teasing, storytelling, joy in living , great generosity, volunteer work, and his love for his family and friends. A funeral mass celebrating Ernie's life will be held on Wednesday, April 18 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Bernadette Parish, 820 Cottonwood Road.
