Many years after leaving Winnipeg where I worked with Ken, the news of his passing strangely affected me. I believe that it was that Ken stuck in my memories and perhaps others as well so clearly. Ken was a different guy than the usual accountant, he had a great laugh and sense of humour, a gentleness and a was a great guy to be around since he was so gregarious. He struck out on his own (not something many of us did 30 years ago), created a long term relationship with Ellie and lived a life that he enjoyed and impacted many people in his community. In many ways he was an alter ego to some of his early peers and that's what made him so memorable when others we have known were not nearly so. The world needs more Ken Manson's and I am sure he will be missed by many. My sincere condolences to Ellie and family - but Ken was someone who it is easy to remember even to someone like me who remebers back 30 years ago. - Posted by: Wes Douglas (Work colleague many years ago) on: May 24, 2012

Totally enjoyed your talks Ken wherever we met... in garage, on the road, out fishing or at your office. You loved driving your ATV. Older the better and held together with tape you'd bearded smile. Good fun decades. Happy to know you Ken. - Posted by: Jim MacDonald (Friend) on: May 24, 2012

Ellie, my heart goes out to you at this very difficult time. Ken always stood for doing the right thing, even when it was not popular. In Nunavut, we were all better off because of his integrity! He worked hard & built a legacy that will stand for generations to come. I am grateful for what he gave to me and very sad because he is gone. Our prayers are with you Ellie. RIP KR Manson. - Posted by: Darrell Lister (Friend, mentee) on: May 24, 2012

Ken Manson was one of the cornerstone's to developing hamlet councils in the Kivalliq Region through his hard work, along with ellie, in the accounting and financial management field. Ken was always quick to give you his opinion on an issue but always, always had the north and its people in his heart and as his focus. Sadly, with his passing, the Kivallq has lost a long term northerner who many of us considered a friend and a builder in the northern territory of Nunavut. Ellie, our heart goes out to you in this difficult time. The community of Rankin Inlet is with you. Respectfully, Shawn Maley Rankin Inlet. - Posted by: Shawn Maley (friend) on: May 24, 2012

Ken and Ellie have been fixtures in our community for so long I can't remember a time when they weren't here. They have been a support for Rankin residents and stalwarts of the Kivalliq Chamber of Commerce. Ken will be greatly missed and my heart goes out to Ellie and both families. My thoughts will be with you all tomorrow. - Posted by: Sandy Kusugak (Friend) on: May 22, 2012

Ellie and Ken's family; many of us and many in Rankin are saddened to hear about Ken's passing, please know Ellie we are all thinking of you. This morning while I was outside my dad's apartment right across your office; I noticed a huge seagull right on top of your office building and couldn't help but smile ...thought it was Ken's way of saying that's he's OK and he's allright..then I heard another seagull it was perched on top of a pole behind your office. Please know Ellie many are thinking of you, we will miss and miss already Ken's friendliness and he always stopped to say hi and how are you.
