Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryELEANORA MARY PUNTON (nee BETZ) Peacefully at the Notre Dame Hospital on Wednesday, May 16, 2012, Mrs. Eleanora Punton of Rathwell, Manitoba, passed away at the age of 91 years. Eleanora leaves to mourn her passing four children: Carole (El) Bonnee of Rathwell, Ron (Doreen) Punton of Winnipeg, Jim (Caren) Punton of Kamloops and Donna Kolly of Notre Dame; 17 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. She also leaves to mourn her passing three sisters: Margaret (Steve) Prokopenko, Rosemarie (Nick) Petz and Pat Saul; one brother Elmer Betz; and numerous nieces and nephews, relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband George Sr. in 1997, one son George Jr. in 2000, one brother Ted (Hilda) Betz and by one brother-in-law Tom Saul. Eleanora was born in Langenburg, SK, on November 5, 1920, on the farm of her parents John and Helena Betz. She met George in Rathwell and they were married in 1942, and together raised five children. She enjoyed gardening, baking, cooking, crocheting, playing bingo and was a whiz at cribbage. Family and children meant everything to Mom. She had a strong faith that sustained her through many trials in her life. Prayers will be held at Adam's Funeral Home on Friday, May 25, 2012, at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated in the Rathwell Roman Catholic Church on Saturday, May 26, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. with interment to follow in the Treherne Catholic Cemetery. Donations in her memory, can be made to the Green Prairie Lodge, St. Monica Church or to the Notre Dame Health Foundation. Thank you to Dr. Denis Fortier for the many years of compassionate care. I loved my Aunt Eleanor. My mother, her sister Margaret, could not fly to the service, but she attended the video and it was a very sad day. She loved her sister and they were so close. Aunt E was a character, and I remember many a wonderful summer at the farm, tolerating the outhouses, collecting eggs and eating fabulous home made food and goodies. I just want to send my condolences out to my nieces and nephews and their families and to let you know my thoughts and prayers go out for you at this time of parting. I already miss your mom's frequent calls. I wish I had been closer to get to know her better. When your dad and mom came out with Rosemarie and Nick and then Tom and I stopped in at their place when out west and finally at Rosemarie and Nick's 50th...there were always good stories to share and lots of laughter. You are blessed to have had your mom with you for so long and get all her stories cemented in your minds. Sorry I can't be with you at this time. So very sorry to hear of your Mother's passing. Our Mom (your Dad's cousin, Agnes Lucas) died July 2010 so we know how difficult it is to lose a Mom. She often mentioned Eleanor, and held her in the highest regard. May the memories of your Mother's love comfort you.
