GERARD PRESCOTT In Loving Memory of Jerry, 48 years suddenly Thursday, May 3, 2012. With deep sorrow we must say goodbye to a man with the gentlest of soul and a man who had much to live for, most especially his two daughters, Hannah and Paige. From the moment he held his first child in his arms, we saw Jerry transform into a loving, deeply devoted and actively involved father. Friends and family knew that his free time was with his children, either at home or with Hannah and Paige at their many after school activities. As a young man, Jerry was a sports enthusiast, so it was natural that he wished the same for Hannah and Paige. He enjoyed baseball, golfing, swimming, skateboarding and cycling. We remember that he was on a fishing trip with two friends when their canoe capsized. It could have been tragic since all three were newlyweds and the other two men did not swim. Jerry was a strong swimmer so fortunately all three men returned safely to the shore. Newly graduated with his power engineering papers he was immediately hired by the City of Winnipeg; he was honoured for 25 years of service last year. Jerry was still employed by the City of Winnipeg. Jerry was the youngest child of Corinne and Rosaire Prescott (deceased) and will be dearly missed by his brothers and sisters, Marie-Helene (Alan), Marie (Don), Rene (Pauline), Ernie (Susan), Robert (Rita), Lucy (Peter), Anita (Frank), his many nieces and nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews, aunts and uncles and cousins, who will hold Jerry's memory in their hearts forever. In 2011 Jerry was predeceased by Erin, mother of Hannah and Paige. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the Canadian Mental Health Association would be appreciated. A private family service took place on May 18. • Sending prayers for you and your family, Jerry. We were high school friends and had a lot of good times together. I only found out about Jerry's passing this very day. I've lived in Vancouver for many years now and just spoke to an old friend in Winnipeg today who told me of Jerry's passing. God bless you, Jerry. • Thinking of spring always makes me think of Jerry... and Mom.(May 3rd). Remember all the antics Remi and Jerry and I pulled when we were up to no good on the farm and around the yard. Still remember trying to teach Jerry to use the BB gun. 3 worse shots were never born! Thinking of you guys - this time of year brings me happy and sad. • I've only just learned of Jerry's passing and am deeply saddened by it. I met Jerry when I was only 12 years old. He was a good friend of my older sister's and was a big presence in our family during those few but very important formative years. I remember his sense of humour clearly and in fact, many of his jokes, hilarious sound effects and tongue in cheek references remain a part of my vocabulary to this day. Over the years we lost touch but I had heard through the grapevine that he had married, become a dad and was doing really well. I am so sorry to learn that his journey has ended much too soon. My heartfelt condolences to his family. - Posted by: Chris (old friend) on: Jun 24, 2013
