MARIO POLITO PUTARO August 13, 1927 - May 20, 2012 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mario Putaro, at the age of 84, on May 20, 2012. He was predeceased by his parents Giovannina and Francesco Putaro from Lappano, Cosenza, Italy, and brothers Giuseppe and Luigi. He is survived by his beloved wife Genoveffa, of 46 years; the loving father of Gina and Giuseppe (Marcia) and dear brother of Delia, Sestilia, Elenora, Maria, Rita, and sister-in-law Maggie as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Mario came to Canada in 1950 and from there never stopped helping family and friends to emigrate from Italy and share his love of this country. He loved entertaining his family with many stories and fond memories of his various and amusing experiences from Italy, Chicago and Winnipeg. This hardworking man shared stories of all the different fields of work he experienced until he found his passion in hairdressing that he continued for the next 40 years. His active and keep busy ways brought a smile to everyone he met. He was a passionate and caring husband and father that would support his children's many endeavors. Mario will be remembered as a person who would go out of his way to help anyone. His outgoing personality and care would bring laughter to any room. He will be deeply missed by all. A special thanks to the ALS Society of Manitoba for their support. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Mario's name to the ALS Society of Manitoba, 493 Madison St., Winnipeg, Manitoba R3J 1J2 or by phone (204) 831-1510. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Thursday, May 24, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in the Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, 510 River Ave. with viewing to be held one hour prior to the Mass. Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • My family has known Mario and Jenny for over 15 years, and not as just clients. My Grandmother found countless happy hours helping Mario and Jenny in the salon: Sweeping up hair, making coffee or being told by Mario jokingly: Clean up this mess! And throwing a towel in mock anger. My Grandmother has said that's the only time she has seen Mario angry and even then she said, He could never hide the smile in his eyes. Always smiling, kind and never had a bad word to say about anything, Mario would shoot the breeze with my Aunt Gail, who works in the shop next door, Would spend her lunches and break times sitting in the salon with Mario and Jenny catching up with each other's days and various other items of info readily passed around a hair dresser's. Mario was much loved by all at the courts and beyond. And we all will cherish the time we each had with Mario, and we will all be here to support you Jenny & Family!
