• For some reason I was thinking of you earlier today. Perhaps you were praying for me from your place in Heaven. I Thank you. You were always one of the first persons to arrive for the 10 A.M. Mass. Often you would greet me or I you as I was leaving from the earlier 7:50 A.M. Mass. You always came in early to "warm up" on the organ for the 10 A.M. choir. • Fran Weiss was a big part of my family's life for over 40 years. We arrived in Norwood and were welcomed into the STM community and Weiss family across the back lane. To me, Fran was a wonderful mentor and inspiring catechism teacher. We loved gatherings with Fran, Dave and their kids because we had so much fun together in the city or at the cottage. She could do just about anything, and wasn't afraid to try. She lead the choir, played the organ beautifully and put heart and soul into music, worship, celebrations and her friends. She lived large and yet had time for personal connections with so many people. I love you Fran and will miss our visits. • We first met Fran and David when their son Paul became engaged to his wife Michelle. She was such a warm, friendly and compassionate person who welcomed you with open arms. We always enjoyed her Christmas get togethers at her home. Our sincere condolences to David and all of their children and extended family members. • Fran is singing with the angels. She was the first person I met at St. Thomas More thirty-five years ago and the best. She embodied what it means to be a christian, a loving person and a great soul. I am shocked and saddened to hear my old friend died. I am heartened to know that the last occasion I shared with her was a celebration that involved music. She is a terrible loss and a great inspiration. • I first met Fran while visiting the Weiss cottage on Lake of the Woods forty-six years ago. It seemed "youthful" Fran was "in-training" to become the future Matriarch of the Island. And what a regal role she's played! We met again last summer at a concert when I was invited for luncheon to the cottage. I was so warmly welcomed by this talented, loveable, energetic, and highly spirited lady, I was easily convinced to stay the night. However, I needed to pick up a few things in my car. My thoughts were if Fran lived her life the way she drove that boat, there was not a wasted minute! Fran left me with such an impression; I can only say that if you are lucky enough to call her wife, mother, sister or aunt, your life has been blessed! What an honor to have known this wonderful person. • Fran was an inspiration to our whole family. At times of great challenge and sorrow, Fran was amazingly supportive and loving. She never missed an opportunity to show us all that she cared and we will miss everything about her - everything - her Halloween treats for the children, her caramel popcorn, her foccacia, sweet nothing meringues, her words of wisdom, her sense of humour, her energy, her practicality, her laughter and, not the least, her beautiful, beautiful organ playing. • I was shocked to hear of the passing of my dear friend and fellow paddler. I was so glad that the last time I saw her I had given her a big hug. She was the biggest little person I have ever met. Her strength in enduring her illness was amazing and very private. All you ever saw from her was a big smile, a laugh, and maybe a song.
