MARGARET PETERS After 93 years, a golden heart stopped beating. On Thursday, June 21, 2012, our Mom, Margaret, Nanny, Grandma, Great-Grandmother, Whiteshell Maggie, relative and friend, passed away peacefully at her home after a full and wonderful life. Her loving and kind spirit will live forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. She had a million dollar smile and her twinkling blue eyes would light up any room. Family and friends were blessed to have Margaret in their lives. Her love of life was infectious! Margaret was born in Winnipeg, MB, and was the last surviving member of her family. She was predeceased, in 2007, by her beloved husband of 67 years, Bill. She leaves to cherish her memory and will be greatly missed by her daughters, Marlyn (Larry) and Linda (Ken), five grandchildren, Cathy (Glenn), Lori (Keith), Curtis (Kimberley), Pam (Faron), Kevin (Tammy) and seven great-grandchildren, Jason (Brooke), Missy, Taylor, Emma, Carter, Troy and Sydney. Family and friends were very important to Margaret. She and Bill made many friends on their Grey Cup trips in the 1950s and 1960s. Their love of the Bombers carries on with their family. Margaret also had a passion for picking blueberries and her outfits were hilarious. Margaret was so proud of her family and was always there for them. Her shortbread and pecan crescents were the best and she shared them with everyone. For a Scottish lassie, Margaret's holopchi were second to none! The memories of delicious Sunday family dinners are treasured. For many years, Margaret was a dedicated employee of Ogilvie Flour Mills and retired in 1978. After retirement, she and Bill enjoyed life to the fullest by spending summers at Jessica Lake and winters in Sarasota, Florida, where they made many life-long friends. For the last five years, Margaret resided at East Park Lodge and again created a large circle of friends. She enjoyed shuffleboard, carpet bowling and the social time at the round table. The family is very grateful to the residents at East Park Lodge for kindness and caring. The family wishes to thank the First Responders, the Paramedics and Police Officers for their compassion. Also, thanks to Dr. Dennis Caners for his many years of care. A celebration of Margaret's life will be held on Wednesday, June 27, 2012, at 1:00 p.m. at Transcona Memorial United Church, 201 Yale Avenue West, with Carol Fletcher officiating. Flowers are gratefully declined and donations may be made in Margaret's name to The Elmwood High School Legacy Fund (The Winnipeg Foundation, 1-1350 Lombard Place Winnipeg, MB R3B 0X5 or wpgfdn.org) or a charity of one's choice. Til memories fade and life departs, you'll live forever in our hearts. . .Love you forever! Funeral Arrangements in Care of Wheeler Funeral Home, Cemetery Crematorium 1800 Day Street 224-1525

Linda, you have truly lost a friend as well as a mother. She was a lovely lovely lady and it was a pleasure to spend time with her just this past May at Elmwood High's legacy plaque rededication. It is touching and special that your family have specified the Elmwood High Legacy Fund as the preferred charity. I was just at the Elmwood grad this morning and the Legacy awards were well received - one of the young ladies was quite shocked to be a recipient. I sat beside Janice Lofendale who said she was at the service for your Mom and said it was a lovely tribute and a huge turnout. My sympathy to you and your family and a virtual hug until I see you at our next Legacy meeting. - Posted by: Colleen Armstrong (acquaintance) on: Jun 28, 2012

Dear Aunt Margaret, I will never forget your laughter and all the fun you brought to my life. You cared for everyone and the world was a much better place because you were in it. You loved your son in laws as much as your daughters and your grandchildren were the light in your eyes. You will be sooo missed. I will always love you. A special thank you to all our family who cared so much for you over the years. Your love shines through all their eyes now. Love Betty. - Posted by: Betty Jane Simpson (Niece) on: Jun 23, 2012
