MARY TORCH PHILL July 3, 1922 - June 20, 2012 In loving memory of Mary Torch Phill, who passed away peacefully on June 20, 2012 at the age of 89 years. Mary was of Ukrainian decent and immigrated to Canada with her parents at the age of 3. At the age of 18, she married Edward Torch, and together they raised their daughter, Heather. Mary and Edward were happily married and shared many good times with family and friends until Edward passed away when Mary was 65. Eight years later, Mary met and married Harry Phill. Mary and Harry spent many years together travelling, enjoying each other's company, and spending time with each other's families. Mary had a very loving heart and was very kind to everyone who she encountered throughout her life. She had a passion for cooking, baking, gardening, golfing, bingo, dancing, and family. She will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her throughout her life. Mary had that special quality where she could brighten your day with her smile or the slightest of gestures. Her memory will be cherished by her husband, Harry, daughter, Heather (Jerry), her grandchildren, Sean and Lonny (Megan), brother, Walter (Vera), her stepchildren, Doreen (Don), Sylvia (Bill), Brad (Gloria) and David. She also leaves behind nine stepgrandchildren and nine stepgreat-grandchildren. A celebration of Mary's life will be held on Tuesday, June 26 at 10:00 am at St. Vital Catholic Church, 1629 Pembina Hwy. Viewing will take place at 9:30 a.m. Interment will follow the service at St. Mary's Cemetery on Osborne Street, followed by a reception at St. Vital Church. Pallbearers will be David Phill, Bill Strachan, Chris Strachan, Scott Fielding, and Garth Donaldson. The family would like to extend their appreciation of the staff at The Golden Door Geriatric Centre for their kindness and compassionate care. Family and friends may sign a Book of Condolence at www.glenlawn.ca. Glen Lawn Funeral Home 982-7550
